Can you guess who belongs to which collar?

Dewi and Jon Farleigh have been known to slip out of their quick-snap collars on occasion so I recently picked up a couple of martingales (for wearing in open, public spaces, where getting loose could spell b.i.g. d.i.s.a.s.t.e.r.).  The collar manufacturer (Premier) happens to be based locally (and their latest products conveniently sold in the small shop where I buy pet food). So imagine my delight when I discovered these two designs that happen to "fit" Jon Farleigh's and Dewi's personalities (and hair color) perfectly.

Can you guess whose this is? It's red and black and covered with whimsical alternating "my little angel" and "my little devil" doggies. :)

And this one is a deep plum and lime-green paisley pattern, like you might see in a fine, silk smoker's jacket. :)

Gotta wonder whether someone at Premier knows my dogs and where I shop? :)

Oh, and those color-coordinated metal carabiner thingies? They're Rubit! dog tag clips, and I'm testing them out. Once the dogs' tags are attached to the split rings, I'll be able to easily move them from one collar to another (and save my poor, flimsy nails).

What about you? Do your dog(s)' collars say anything about them? Do you match collars to your dog(s)' coat color?

P.S. As I was writing this, about 20 minutes ago, an earthquake of magnitude 5.8 (centered just NW of here) rocked my house and surrounding Richmond, Virginia (US) metropolitan area. Scary stuff. We are, thankfully, all okay.  Hope you are, too.

  2. Well a little while back you posted a picture of Dewi with a title, Face of an Angel, so did he get the angel collar?

I had a post planned for a couple of new collars I just got. I guess great minds think alike :-) But of course now it will look like I copied your idea :-) Guess that post is off the list!

I was on the 9th floor at work when the quake hit. It made for quite the commotion! We evacuated and got sent home.

  3. I imagine Dewi is getting the elegant paisley collar. But I couldn't guess who would get a collar with devils on it. You must have bought it for some other dog you know.

We felt the earthquake up here in Ithaca for about 3 minutes. This is the second earthquake I'm experienced in NY in the past 2 years. Weird, huh?

They're kinda fun as long as no one gets hurt.

  4. Glad you guys survived the earthquake just fine!

I always match my dog's collars to their coat color. Koira often wears orange because it looks good on her, and Pallo normally has green or blue.

  5. @Benny & Lily - Please keep your quakes to yourselves. :) Yeah, it's crazy how the shakes went so far north of us!

@Taryn - My husband was on the 7th floor in downtown Richmond during the quake. Said he saw buildings swaying and the windows in his office were buckling. His building was the only one within eyeshot, however, that didn't evacuate. Whatever. I'm glad it wasn't worse (for anyone). Scared the sh@# out of me for a couple minutes - and I had three hysterical kids. :(

Oh, I forgot (this is a dog blog, after all) - Dewi wears red. You win. :)

@Pamela - That's wild. Three minutes?! I don't know how long I felt it - too long. :) It was so strong that I had to brace myself on a door frame at one point. :( We've had much smaller quakes here before(but nothing I've ever noticed). Probably because they've been "drowned out" by the weekly Army helicopter fly-overs. :)

And you'll get to see the little "devil" in person in two days! :)

@K-Koira - Glad I'm not the only one! (Don't you love buying orange collars? I like orange for two of my cats. :)

  6. Ooo I love new collars! Parker can rock any pattern, though his favorite is his Red Sox collar. Skye is harder, usually pink or sky blue (get it?) and preferably with flowers to help her gender confusion.

I was hiking with Skye and Sinatra in MA and felt not a thing. But all of my coworkers were freaking out, and they were right down the street. Apparently I was in the zone...

  7. So glad that you all are safe and sound. Love those new collars, especially the plum one. And I'm curious about the tag attachments and will be watching for your review. They look like they dangle quite long?

  8. That quake was something else... I was on the 9th floor at work too. Our roof is under construction and I was certain they'd done something wrong up there! Didn't find out it was an earthquake until after we were all evacuated. I think I've had enough of these to last me for a long time!

  9. @OfPBaP - I always love the collars I see on Miss Skye. :) Parker does definitely match every collar under the sun and moon!

@Talking Dogs - They're definitely hanging a bit langer than I'm used to, but other than dipping into the water bowl on occasion, it's not bad (the dogs don't notice). I'll take it over bending my nails backwards. Look for a post Blog Paws assessment of the new collars and tag clips next week. :)
