Many thanks for your feedback! Now see what I did. :)

First off, SurveyMonkey rocks for making gathering your valuable feedback on the blog colors so easy. Go there if you ever decide to add a survey to your own blog. :) (Note: If I had asked you to vote for your favorite out of a group of color schemes, I would have used PollDaddy.com.) Both of these sites offer useful FREE services for bloggers.

Okay, now for the big reveal, but first, THANK YOU for taking the time to help me with my dilemma...and yes, for the sometimes "brutal" honesty. :) To be frank, although more than a handful of responders have been complimentary about the "golden-dotted" framework, quite a few more than that think it detracts from the blog (think Jon Farleigh and Dewi covered in spicy brown mustard). Not good.

One survey participant even shared a web site with dozens of color palettes (including ever-so-important HTML color codes) from which I might draw inspiration. But alas, after trying 974,268 different combinations that I hated, I said screw it this is for the birds and decided that THIS LOOK makes me happy:

In case you can't tell, there's a vintage TV set in the background. (Because dropping the blog in front of an old TV makes perfect sense, don't you think? :)
(This is a stock Blogger background, by the way.)

Honestly, because it's warm, quirky and makes no sense, I think it makes perfect sense (for my style and this blog). Well, that and the colors don't clash (too badly). :)

Thanks again, everyone!

Jon Farleigh and Dewi return tomorrow! Stay tuned!
(See, I can even make a pun about my new background. :)

  1. I miss the polka dots. Now I can't read your blog any more. Just kidding.

it's risky designing by consensus. You never know what crazy thing people will come up with. Of course it's hard to go wrong with your cuties in the header.

  2. Well, I liked the polka dots ... but I actually like this better! But yeah, Pamela has a good point. The first and really only person you should worry about pleasing when it comes to stuff like this is yourself. What is that old saying - a camel is a horse designed by a committee? :)

But regardless ... the new look looks great!

  3. I agree! The most important thing is that you love it - it's your blog and should reflect what you really like! Nice job!!

  4. It's a non-sequitor, but I unreservedly like it. A big improvement over the polka-dots, that's fer sure.

  5. I like it:) What's more important is you like it!

  6. Love the new look. Liked the old look, too. Mostly I love your dogs (and cats) so I'll keep coming back no matter how you tweak the design. :)

  7. I DO like it! Warm and inviting.

I'm not a very tough customer and had no problem with the old style, but the picture of the pups here is fab. Congrats to you and the beasties.

  8. I liked the polka dots and thus am kind of disappointed. But the weird television set on a dog-related blog makes up for their absence. I guess. ;-)

I am mostly joking. Just in case you couldn't tell by the winky face.

  9. I liked the polka dots, too, but I was away on vacation when you asked the question! :P I think the old analog TV is pretty cool, though!

  10. (For those who also commented on the post before this, I'm getting ready to repeat what I've told you already...please skip down.)

@Well, thanks everyone (especially for not unsubscribing after I teased you all with POLKA DOTS!). Just so you know, I LOVED THEM TOO and it was because I wanted them to stay so badly that I couldn't find the right color. :( The only colors I could find that looked good in dots were dark purple, green and pink, which would have worked well if this was The Chronicles of Peter Rabbit. Darn dots.

@Pamela - Yes, it is a risk, but I took it because I was beating myself up too much. :( I didn't get any crazy ideas (widely varying, yes, but not crazy); however, there were a couple folks reading my blog in sunglasses. :)

@Tucker - I had not heard that camel saying before (I was born under a rock). How appropriate!

@Julie - Thanks. I love that TV back there more each time I see it. :)

@Ron - So thankful to have the opposite sex's point of view! (BTW - my husband didn't like the colors...or the dots.)

@Leslie - I hope you do (come back, that is)! :)

@Kristine - I'm naming the TV Kristine in your honor. ;)
