The Whole Brood (minus a biped) In One Room

A first on the blog:

(I added the arrows because, apparently, I don't know whether you all can tell dogs and cats from humans. :)

Youngest Child (not pictured) must have been outside digging for worms (totally serious).

So now you've seen how I live. And now you know that we eat off the same surfaces that the cats' litter box feet/butts stand/sit on. I feel better not keeping that dirty secret any longer.

Speaking of dirty, I'm taking a day off the blog tomorrow...to clean up pet hair...and so I can get the tune of "You Are My Sunshine" out of my head...and think up something to post on Friday...so I don't have to post someone else's photo with a bad caption, like this:

I have no idea who to credit for this; The Hubby emailed it to me, because he thought it was funny.

Truth: I didn't get the joke. Who knew dogs don't see red and blue? ;D

Back on Friday, friends. :)

  1. I thought we had a full house with two corgis and a poodle...Good luck with the dog hair. I swept three times and still see some! With double coats it's like having four corgis! Thanks for explaining the caption. I didn't get it either!

  2. That's a whole lot going on in one spot! Why do I suspect a whole bunch of people are going to decline your next dinner invitation now?

  5. If it makes you feel any better about cat feet/butts touching eating surfaces.....I've shared an ice cream cone with my dogs! Oh, the horror! How gross is that?! Don't tell anyone ;-)

  6. Wow, your house sure is neat! Please tell me you tidied up before taking the photo so I don't die of shame.

    The photo is very funny and I laughed right away. The expression alone was priceless. But I thought the whole colour-blind thing was a myth? I could be wrong.

  7. Elizabeth and Taryn, I have shared ice cream with my dogs AND I have a cat who sits on counters and tables. So, I have you BOTH beat! (I do spray the counters and the tables with cleaner before using them for food prep or consumption and Harry knows not to jump on the counters or tables while we are cooking or eating.)

  8. Such is life with a menagerie! People managed to survive living with all their animals during the winter, I think we can survive a few cat hairs. :) Love this photo, such a great glimpse into everyday family life!

  9. Hi Y'all,

    Whoa! You and I are NOT gettin' a lot of visitors! In my part of the world...hairy things with 4 feet are NOT supposed to be in the house! period!

    Thank Heaven my parents weren't like that! The only 4 footed hairy thing I ever got in trouble for bringin' in the house was my riding horse when I was 8 yrs old.

    I wonder sometimes when cooking for church or family supers if many people avoid eating the dish I bring if they know who brought it! :)

  11. @Becky - I don't know if I knew you had a poodle. :) But they don't shed - thank goodness, right?

    @Houndstooth - Well, you could be right! I think most of my close friends have accepted it and are in a state of denial when in my kitchen. :)

    @BeBe (had to look you up, formerly Veronica Lodge ;) - That's a lotta dogs. I bed it's cozy at your house. :)

    @PupFan - Well now I don't feel so dumb. Thanks. :)

    @Taryn - That's gross, and my name is Pot. :) (I won't share a spoon with ANYONE - ew.) :)

    @Kristine - The camera is not showing the piles of dog hair and drool smears on every surface below the knee. :) I do try to keep that room at least clutter-free (it's the only room in the house I seem to have control over). The rest of the house mostly looks like a bomb exploded in it.

    @Boo's Mom - Thanks for sharing. :) I guess I kind of made it sound like we eat right off the counters/table without plates or anything. :) Nah, and I go through lots of disinfectant! I can't keep them off the counters, though.

    @Trude - Thanks. :) If cat hair was harmful to my health, I'd be long gone. :)

    @BrownDog's Human - That's the way it is where my husband is from. :( They are really missing out! I can't believe you brought your horse in the house!
    I doubt anyone avoids your dishes - people tend to be especially trusting at covered dish occasions. :)

  13. Oh what's a bit of dog or cat hair amongst friends? If I had cats they'd probably be on the benchtops too. Except they're usually covered in stuff I keep meaning to find homes for so there wouldn't be room for cats.

    Loved the photo but I'm glad you explained it because I didn't get it either, lol.

  14. Oh my, that's quite a herd you have there! And yeah, my cats never understood they were supposed to walk on the floor, my dogs don't know they're not supposed to sleep on the bed and the humans don't know the floor is for the pets and the furniture is for the people. Are you saying it's not supposed to look like this? ;)

    What a great crew.
