I'm mainly a dog person with five Siberian Huskies, but we do have a feral we rehabilitated, vetted, and adopted (and who thinks he's a dog!) I thought about including a disclaimer about butter or cream cheese on the danish, but decided there were already too many words! I have a cat who will eat anything just about, too. He has at least learned that he has to wait patiently for a small sliver from my plate. He actually has a chair at the table (because it was too much of a pain to keep him from jumping up in someone's lap. He's my senior citizen shelter cat and I've kind of decided I've got to make up for all the time he spent homeless in the shelter. What's another chair at the table among family members, anyway? I find that my cats can be harder to deal with because they don't care and training has to be completely on their terms, where as a dog wants to learn and do stuff with you. I do prefer my dogs but I love my cats, too. I love the idea of a cat cafe and I hope it helps more kitties get adopted. Cats prefer to approach people on their (the cat's) terms. I can see that dogs might prefer not to be approached (willy nilly) by humans they are unfamiliar with. There is a definite difference in cats (vs. dogs) needing to have control of their environment (which manifests, for example, in them calling the shots on who/and when they interact with people, including those they trust the most). This characteristic can be quite off putting for those who expect them to be "doting" like dogs. I'm speaking in generalities, of course. ☺Elizabeth Keenehttps://www.blogger.com/profile/07710489912663020646noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6616115718711383229.post-38477791275088709652015-11-20T08:18:12.983-08:002015-11-20T08:18:12.983-08:00I don't think I could ever visit a cat cafe. ...I don't think I could ever visit a cat cafe. I'm pretty allergic. Cats know this and whenever I've been to houses with cats, they are always very attracted to me. I think they are trying to speed up the process of the wheezing, hives, and lung shutdown. ;)

I had cats growing up - but they were outdoor cats (didn't live long, as you can imagine). I think it would be fun to have one - but I value breathing. I once volunteered at a city shelter and someone found a tiny little kitten (maybe 3 weeks) and they were just going to leave it in the cage. I took it home and bottle fed it for a couple of days (I was having breathing issues and wasn't sure how long I could keep it up). Thankfully, a friend of the family was a cat nut and she adopted her.
