Rufus was 5 months old when we got him, so this is my first foray into real puppydom. The puppy is (hopefully, if everything works out) coming from Tennessee...don't want to say too much yet, I'm scared of jinxing it! No sense in all of us getting up at the crack of dawn :) Cardigans are in Ring 6. Scope out how they have things set up. If they aren't charging admittance at the door, then just walk right in w/JF. Alternatively, they will almost certainly have side doors propped open and bring him in that way. Looking forward to seeing you!Red Dog Momhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/10913211067878523753noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-6616115718711383229.post-5387434070745420652011-01-18T11:05:20.867-08:002011-01-18T11:05:20.867-08:00Dina - forgot about your Doswell comment. Should JF come in through the front door with me? Looks like they offer a lot more in the way of prerequisite obedience for CGC and performance than RDOC does. After this Basic Obedience class with Dewi, we're kinda out of options at RDOC, other than to repeat Basic or start Rally. I will do some further poking around about the Dude Ranch.

Builder Mama - We've been going to Richmond Dog Obedience Club. http://www.rdoc.org/
It's around the block from the Sears Outlet in Richmond's near West End. They do AKC STAR Puppy, Basic Obedience (no clicker training though) and a CGC prep course (if that's a goal of yours). Aside from that, they are heavy into performance, especially Rally and Agility. If you decide to use them for STAR Puppy, sign up EARLY; those classes fill QUICKLY. We've enjoyed meeting other dog folks out there - there's a very active member who owns Cardis (and looks out for us).

How exciting to be getting a new one! The place we used for Rufus went belly-up after only two lessons and, um, we didn't do anything else.
