In protest of future lame posts...

...lest you get the same tired photo with a different (yet similar) tired caption each day, I have decided to take a blog vacay (short for vacation) from daily posting next week. (Trust me, you need this.)

However, because I feel the need to further ramble on about justify this decision to you, I've decided to list (below the cute, tired dog photos) the top five reasons I need to get a life go outside talk to my kids take a few days off.
(Reminder: Scroll down below the photos.)

The Top Five Reasons I Need to Take a Few Days off from Daily Blogging:
  1. So I don't post any more photos of Jon Farleigh and Dewi staring at pieces of fruit.
  2. The seats of my pajama pants are becoming thread-bare.
  3. Youngest Child - after seeing a car with vanity plates: L84SK8NG (translation: Late for Skating) - suggested I get a plate/bumper sticker that reads: "Late for everything because I'm always writing dumb stuff for my blog."
  4. I actually considered - without anyone holding a gun to my head - passing up spending a sunny, 82 F-degree afternoon lounging poolside in favor of sitting in front of the computer wishing I was lounging poolside.

    And the #1 reason I should probably take a few days off from daily blogging is:

  5. That instead of being disturbed at the sight of my dog dragging a brown streak across my floor and then having to use scissors to cut a smashed turd out of his fur, I became giddy at the prospect of having something new and exciting to share on the blog (which I just did). :)
(Truth: I have some seriously time-consuming parental duties next week that will make it really hard for me to post each day. Please enjoy the free time that I will be giving back to you.)

~~~~~~
Have a wonderful weekend!
  1. I'll miss you! Your blog is the highlight of many an afternoon. I'll be on vacation for 2 weeks after that so I'll catch up in August. Enjoy your blog-free week...your kids sound like they have the same sense of humor (?) that mine did at that age. "Oh good, grilled cheese for dinner again...how's the sermon coming, mom?"
  2. Happy blog break! I hope you enjoy the extra free time too. I don't know what it was about the term "smashed turd," but I pretty much cackled reading that. I have similar reactions now too. When Oscar runs around with a streamer of TP in his mouth, instead of stopping him, I go and grab my camera. That's great training...
  3. @Peggy - Yes, same sense of humor as your kids. :) I'm not going away for the whole week, just a couple days, probably. :)
    @OscarBlogger - Smashed turd - tee hee. :) And, yes, they are training us well!
  4. Oh, No! I will miss my daily laugh, but I certainly understand. I spend far too much time trying to come up with something to post as well! It can be come obsessive!
    JF has a wonderfully pristine white belly. My guys are always sort of yellowed and dingy. I guess a bath is in order.
    Enjoy your blog break, although an intensive parenting week sounds quite tiring.
  5. I just woke all my pups up... laughing so loud about the turd! You know, I don't comment every day, but please know you'll be missed.
  10. I think I'm addicted to blogging. Well, not really the writing part, but the browsing part. I'm the one who should probably take the break. I need a vacay (you know, I never knew what that meant until you explained it clearly), too, because my pajamas have been thread-bare for the past several months. :'(
  11. You could never post too many photos of the dogs staring at fruit... know that. :)
    Enjoy your blogging break!
  14. We love your posts, your comments, Dewi & Jon Farleigh..and we'll miss you, but we'll understand. Daily blogging is very time consuming. That's why from the git-go we blog only once a week, cause I knew we couldn't keep it up. Also, I was fraught with guilt as author Sherman Alexie said, "If you're blogging, you're not writing."
    Enjoy your break. We'll catch up with you later!
  15. Omg I completely agree. I only poswt every so-and-so day, just to gather up some action to post on my blog. You don't have to post everyday. Take your little shorties to an interesting place and the blog post will be asking you to type what happened. If you want to save it for another day, sure! Go ahead! That'll just leave a long fresh post for us to read. Happy vacation! :D))
  16. Wow, everyone; I'm grateful for your kindness. It was nice to get away from the computer for a few days - even though I didn't have much time to "relax." I did discover that blogging about the dogs helps me to live more in the moment (a good thing). So anyway, we'll see what "little" things they have in store for me this week. :)
    @Taryn - JF's belly IS pristine after his bath today. It wasn't too pristine in this photo, though; the flash made it look that way. And I think Jimmy and Wilson look just fine!
    @GLP's Typist - Darnit, not a lost rude comment!!! :( BTW, I have noticed you've been on an unannounced hiatus. Glad to know you're having a ball out there NOT blogging. :) Lookout though, some of your blog friends might stage an intervention to cure you of your "addiction." Ahem.
    @Chandra - Ha ha! I'm too modest to sleep in shorts. :)
    @Shanimal - I don't know how you keep up with all your million fans. :) Honestly though, I can also get bogged down with all the browsing. Blogging can be a full-time job (and is for some people). If you're feeling the strain, yes, I agree you should make yourself go on VACAY. Do it. :)
    @Julie and Tom - Thank you. You have a good once-a-week gig. :) I love the quote, too, it's just that if I don't blog, I don't write. :) Maybe one day I'll get brave enough to branch out, but 'til then, I guess you get to see and read a lot more of (unedited) us. :)
    @Peanut - You are so right and I'll be thinking your wise words the next time I worry about missing a day. :)
