Random Act of Kindness: Pick-out-something-from Etsy Iveaway-gay!

Speak Pig Latin, do you? ;) (Ok, fine. Translation: iveaway-gay = giveaway ;)

Before I get down to business - with rules and stuff - I need to confess a couple things (for my own inner peace):

1. I don't like hosting giveaways on this blog. It feels awkward, probably because by design, giveaways are not funny (especially when one doesn't win), and therefore, don't fit in with the whole kooky theme I've got going on here. That and they're potentially humiliating. As in what if NO ONE ENTERS?! Then what? Isn't it basically just confirmation (in front of all 7 of one's loyal readers, who were, incidentally, too embarrassed to enter, plus the rest of the free world) that all those page hits were really just people Googling for "butt jokes" or photos of Aquasaurs (for example)? Can you imagine the horror?! ;)

2. I have been shamelessly entering a bunch of giveaways over here (hint: the blog name rhymes with "The Why-oneer Flummon"). And I really hope I win something!

Thanks for listening.

So, here I am. Randomly hosting a random (and potentially embarrassing*) $25 Etsy gift card giveaway - because I just feel like it!

Maddox's collar and tag = awesome Etsy finds!

Also, because every time I see Maddox in his handmade sock monkey collar and tag (ordered from Etsy, and blogged about here), I bust out in a smile all over my face and feel like giving something away!

Rawr.

The rules are easy: Simply leave a comment (one per person, please) stating something you are good at hand-making!

(And please don't tell me "nothing," because I know good and well that you can at least spread peanut butter between two slices of white bread!)

On Saturday (12/15) morning, I will select one (1) winner from the comments (using a random number generator) and make an announcement on Facebook and Twitter (hint: you will need to go to one of those two places to see if you've won).

Good luck!

Necessary fine print:

  • If you are a spammer, I will find your comment, pan fry it and then feed it to my friend, Mr. D. Lete Button.
  • This contest is open worldwide, however, Etsy gift cards are only accepted at U.S.-based sellers who accept credit cards as payment. (Both sellers I mentioned above, for example, meet the criteria.) You are responsible for ensuring the seller ships to your country of residence.
  • The winner will receive one (1) $25 Etsy gift card, sent electronically (via email) directly from Etsy. You may provide your e-mail address when claiming your prize.
  • This random giveaway is sponsored by The Chronicles of Cardigan. Etsy doesn't know me from a hole in the wall!

* Please enter the contest, or I'll have to blame poor Maddox for my embarrassment.

  1. It is us and we'd love some SPAM & HAM. We can't enter as we are in the UK but still we will take a chill pill and say have a terrific Tuesday.
    Best wishes Molly

  2. I'm a knitter, so I make lots of stuff. My handmade socks are in high demand by family members, but right now I'm on a selfish knit-for-myself sweater binge. I'm a Cardigan owner who knits cardigans (and lots of other things).

  3. Okay, I'm fairly good at hand making dog jewelry for people. (And I've been lucky winning here in the past, so feel like I better enter! lol Plus I love Etsy)

  5. Oh, fun contest. I love Etsy - just ordered some original artwork over there the other day that reminded us of our beagle, Bailey.

I am good at making (in conjunction with my sis) wool felted dogs, as featured by Roxy the Traveling Dog's mom on her Desert Raven Art site back in June. We might even start selling them... maybe. If we get up our nerve (and some inventory...)

  6. Let's see. I'm shameless I want to win, but if it is random, I don't have a chance in a pile of toothpicks.
but I am good at making things. I am the best cinnamon roll maker this side of the Missouri river. I have a baking business called M..M...Mitzi and I make gourmet cinnamon rolls. I also rubber stamp a mean birthday, Christmas or thank you card. You name it I stamp it. If you would like to have one, send me your addy via my personal email (that you have) {I am indelicate comment Mitzi}, and I will send you one.

  7. Lol, don't blame poor Maddox!

I am pretty decent at making dog collars. At least, I think I am, and my dogs haven't told me otherwise.

  8. I'd like to think I'm pretty good at hand making a wide variety of things, but frankly, some of my past efforts do NOT support that show of bravado. If it involved hand painting, it's pretty much guaranteed to be a disaster. I am however good at paper crafts and anything in the kitchen.

PS - I can share my secret as to getting lots of entries if you want. Email me ;)

  9. Hmmm, why do I feel like I'm only good at making things on the computer?? I made some cute glass magnets for my friends holiday gift faire! I wouldn't call myself "good at it" tho.

Maddox looks so handsome in his collar - I love it!! I have 5 kittens . . .need a couple more??

  12. LOL I love your contest write up. Probably the best write up of all time.

I am good at making things out of rope, for example a halter for my horse or say a harness for my dog. I can do it in just a few seconds. Always useful for a loose horse!

  28. Can you fry my spammers up in a pan too? Would appreciate it!

I have to admit that I am the less handy person in my family. My sister can do almost anything with her hands - knit, sew, glue, paste, paint, etc. She has even had booths in craft shows before. What is she working on now? Making wreaths out of toilet paper rolls (Google it - you won't believe what you can recycle them into!).
Me on the other hand? I write, take pictures, read, train my dogs and hang out with friends. My mother gave up trying to teach me to knit, my sister gets all my uncompleted cross-stitching work, and my sister-in-law does the scrapbooking. This is why I love looking at ETSY. I can see what others reated with their own hands and buy it! :)
See? I need that gift certificate!

  31. You're so awesome for doing a giveaway! (And were you as excited as I am when you saw Etsy start doing gift cards?!) I'm not the best at making things with my hands, although I'm getting much better at cooking and I've always been pretty handy at baking. Does making photos count? :)

  33. Oh what a lovely and fun giveaway! I am good at making homemade soup, which comes in handy during the winter months. I'm also good at making a mess ;) but I don't think that counts. I'm a writer working on my first novel so I'm good at making stories also :) Thanks very much!
