Wherein I Admit to Keeping the Kitten and [gulp] to Having 4+1 Cats

Remember this guy?

Not sure? OK, how about now?

Perhaps if you go back to October 3rd, it'll ring a bell...

Alright, fine! I'll just say it: It's Bertie. The stray kitten I found outside on October 2, brought in, tried to find the owners for, but learned he and his littermates had been left outside on purpose, took to the vet to get vaccinated and neutered, and then left you all hanging about whether I was going to keep him or not.
(The last time he appeared in a blog post was October 30, incidentally.)

Well, I did. Or should I say we did (I do live with four other humans, you know)...

KEEP HIM, PEOPLE!

He's our cat. Numero cinco. AKA a whole flipping pile o'cats live in my house.

And you know what?

YIPPEE! I LOVE MY KITTIES!

Now, pass me a muscle relaxer and draw me a bubble bath.
Actually, don't. I don't do muscle relaxers...or baths. ;) That would mean I'd have to keep the tub clean.

So there you go. I'm glad we had this talk.

Here, have a parting shot (or two) of Bertie and Maddox hanging out (this morning). They're BFFs (for real).

By the way, Bertie is also BFFs with Lulabelle (frap friend) and Dewi (he grooms Dewi's ears). He is only an FF, however, to Eva, Tigger and Jon Farleigh. :-)

"Easter Egg" Alert!

If you scroll to the bottom of my (previously published) not-so-original and even-less-nursery-like song OLD MacDONALD WAS CRAZY, you might find a "new" final verse. ;-)

  11. I have 4 cats that my dachshund found 3 years ago under our shed that were about 1 week old...no Mama in site. We brought them in and they have never left. My husband and I had never been owned by any cats and we had a dachshund and a greyhound at that time. I call my 4 girl kitties a harem for my dachshund. I'm keeping a spot or two open for potential new kitties that my dachshund may find :). Congrats on expanding your brood!

  12. Hahahaha! Yay!!! Sometimes, you just know the cat was meant to be yours. Right now I am fostering three kittens and two of them I won't miss but the little tabby male is going to be hard to give up. I can't keep him, right??

I love that all your cats are good friends as well. If that isn't a sign Bertie was meant to live with you, I don't know what is. Congratulations!

  14. I think you gave it away when you mentioned how many litter boxes you cleaned a few weeks ago. We have 6 in our house for our 4 cats. I also appreciate someone else who thinks the kitchen island is a totally appropriate place to hang out.

  15. Whoah!!! I am totally at (mental)capacity with 3 cats and 1 dog! No need for mink throws in my house - the whole place is covered in (disembodied) fur!

  16. So awesome! We're maxed out at 4 cats, 2 dogs and a lizard, at least that's what we're saying right now. The Mr. says we can't foster anything, he's just as likely to get attached. :) Congrats on Maddox's mini-me!

  17. Oh lord, how could you not keep that cat? He's moved in to my heart and never even met him. Five cats is a nice round number.
