I finally caught on camera one of my critters with the "lazy tongue".
Anyone know why dogs/cats do this sometimes? I mean, I think I'd notice if my tongue was sticking partly out. Wouldn't you? Of course, there have been reported incidents of me flashing my half-moon to innocent bystanders at the dog mall (while bending down to pet other dogs - NOT because I'm a flasher). (Nevermind that the poor victims happened to be the nice older couple from church.)
I insist I didn't notice when it happened - not even the slightest breeze to tip me off. I tell you, you won't ever catch me exclaiming judgementally again, "You'd think the hussy would notice that half her *ss is hanging out the top of her pants! Sheesh, get some bigger underwear." Nope, not ever saying that about someone else again.
Furthermore, I think someone should invent a personal "shock" alarm that fits inside the waistband of one's pants, which, upon changes in light and/or temperature, would discreetly zap the wearer back into a proper solar (as opposed to lunar) position. Raise your hand if you agree. Oh, sheesh, humor me, people. I can totally see your vertical smiles. :)
Fine! Here are the stinkin' cat tongue pictures.
Happy Rump Hump Day! And remember, crack kills.
Love the last photo!
ReplyDeleteI love the photos! My Oscar cat gets caught with his tongue out just a bit :) It makes me laugh!! -Tammy
ReplyDeleteSometimes when I'm so exhausted, my tongue sticks out while I am in a deep sleep & I don't even realize it. Sometimes my hoomies would make fun of me & play with my tongue & I don't even feel a thing. TEE HEE
ReplyDeleteSo cute! Bella does that sometimes too. We used to have a chihuahua who just left her tongue out all the time - we'd have to tap it to remind her to pull it in so that it didn't get too dried out! =P
ReplyDeleteThis is seriously the funniest post I have read all day!
ReplyDeleteFirst, no idea about the tongue thing but my cat does the same sometimes. It's so weird. But also kind of cute.
As for the butt hanging out of the pants thing... I have so been there! I am super conscious of the possibility now that I am always double-checking. The personal alarm would save me a lot of time! It's not our fault, it's the clothing manufacturerer's for making the rise so low! That's my story anyway.
Love the fact you semi-flashed a couple of elderly church-goers. My darker side is often tempted to do the same on purpose. Not that I actually would, of course. ;-)
and whats wrong with the tongue thing? BOL

Thanks, all, it's been fun trying to imagine all your fur babes with their tongues hanging out in various situations. :) I tried holding my own tongue out for a bit today, but it only made me laugh. Unfortunately for me, my dentist said I grind my teeth so badly that when I get much older, without intervention, my lower jaw is going to recede such that my tongue might just flap in the wind naturally. Who'll be laughing then? Not me.
ReplyDelete@Kristine/Rescued Insanity - Thanks for mentioning the butt part of the post. I was beginning to fear I'd offended all my wonderful readers.
And, yes, when my waistband was up under my armpits (90s), I never had this problem.
Wouldn't it be ironic if you got half-mooned by a cranky elderly citizen? :)
What a hoot! I'm inspecting my kittehs right now for tongue defects.
ReplyDeleteHi Y'all,
ReplyDeleteMy Human sat down to check out some blogs. Then she helped me post the Thursday Rescue. When she went to close her computer she noticed a new follower...you...and decided to follow you back instead.
Unfortunately she is rolling on the floor laughing hysterically after reading your entry.
So, I thought I'd just follow you back and tell her later after I lick some sense back into her.
Y'all come back now,
Hawk aka BrownDog
Those are adorable pictures!
ReplyDeleteHappy Wednesday!
Kisses and hugs
Lorenza
@Brown Dog, Chessie (since we're friends now, can we call you that?) :)
ReplyDeleteThanks for coming by and for laughing at our misfortune. See you soon.
There's a lot of funny in this post! My mom person lives in fear of doing that.
ReplyDeleteOur cats lay like that too, we don't know why.
Nubbin wiggles,
Oskar
