...keeping watch over Buster and Albert, who despite their differences in life, no doubt, greeted her arrival with purrs of welcoming delight.
She was 20 years old and with the human she loved most in the entire world (her dad), in the moments before she was lovingly set free.

Goodbye, Chatty Charlie. You rocked this place.
(I'll be back as soon as I can, y'all. This kinda sucks.)

I am so sad for you! It truly does suck when it's their time to leave. No matter how many years they are with us, it is never, ever enough.
ReplyDeleteCame here from Rescued Insanity, and I'm so sorry to hear about your loss! Sounds like she lived a good long life and I'm sure she's keeping an eye on things.
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry about Charlie. That's a lot of years of loyal aloofness. My cat is 20 also and I know that she will not be around for much longer--it is so hard to let go remembering all the years of steadfast...well, aloofness and yet such quiet love and loyalty.
ReplyDeleteDear Elizabeth,
ReplyDeleteI'm so sorry about Charlie.
I just read her story. I can't imagine how you must feel. 20 years is a lifetime to get to know someone. You grow up and grow old in that time. It's great that Charlie got to be with her dad and that it was a peaceful passing. What more could you ask for in the end?
BIG HUGS to you and all the family. Love and peace as well xox
I sincerely thank everyone for your kind thoughts and words. This one has been particularly tough, and it helps to have likeminded friends who care. Yes, you, too, Trude. :)
ReplyDeleteLove,
Elizabeth
I'm a cat mommy of 5 & lost several other cats on the way these past years... I didn't know your blog before tonight, but I don't want to leave as a lurker, because I'm really sad for your loss.
ReplyDelete20 years of a happy life in a loving home has been good for your Charlie, but I know for you it's even harder to say goodbye and you'll miss her so much, so here are some warm thoughts from Western France xx
ahhh...so sad..sending good vibes to the family

So sorry to hear about your loss of a furry family member. Hugs from me and the furries.
ReplyDeleteOh, Elizabeth, I am so sorry for your loss! I am very saddened to hear of Charlie's passing, but know that she was a very, very lucky girl to have such a loving family in her life. Our thoughts are with you and your family!!!
ReplyDeleteThe Horde and I are sorry for your loss. I was just thinking about my first cat, Cally, the other day. She would have been 21 on May 27th but passed 5 years ago. I still miss her. She had such magnificent disdain for everything.
ReplyDeleteThank you so much for all the additional well wishes. :) You all are awesome.
ReplyDelete@Valerie - What a sweet comment. Thank you for
visiting and for taking the time to comment. I hope you come back sometime. :) You have a BEAUTIFUL blog, by the way. :)
I'm SO behind! Sorry to hear about your loss Elizabeth. At least you can take solace in knowing Charlie had a very long life and you were lucky enough to share it with her. =] I'm sure she was grateful for that too. Hugs!
ReplyDeleteI'm sorry to hear about Charlie... my apologies for not stopping by sooner. Sending huge, gigantic hugs your way.
