Cute Festival Dogs and, oh yeah, 'Who are you calling a giddy dog mom?'

So on Friday, I left you all hanging (indulge me) about whether or not Jon Farleigh and Dewi would be repeat contestants in the battle for "Cutest Dog" at ChesterFest. But before I reveal the answer, allow me to direct your attention back to some verbiage from my last post:
"...I think I might like to see some other giddy first-time-contest-entering-puppy-mom get to pose with her dog's blue ribbon this time around."
Okay, well aside from that being an obscenely stereotypical (however probable) statement, I confess that it was also a fib. See, what I REALLY meant to say was:
"...I think I might like to see some beefy, Chihuahua-toting real man dog-DUDE get to pose with HIS dog's blue ribbon this time around."
Because that's what happened.

Behold Cornelius, ChesterFest's newly reigning "Cutest Dog":

Look! My dad can hold me with only two fingers, and tweet about me at the same time!

...And you over there, my dad says good things come in small, fluffy packages.

We DID enter the contest, by the way. And, I'm glad we didn't win. :)

Be sure to come back tomorrow for the ChesterFest "doggie" photo dump!

  1. Most likely, the contest keeps track of who won year-to-year, so as not to have a repeat winner. Spreading the fun around, so to speak.

There is no other explanation possible as to why Dewi and JF didn't win again this year :-)

  2. Oh and....just noticed you got your 100th follower/member. Woohoo! I think that qualifies for a contest or a giveaway or some such celebration! Hint. Hint.

  3. Well, that is one cute pup! And we congratulate him on his win, (though the two of you would still have had our votes!)

  4. To all - Thank you, but for the record, I think the little doggie is adorable! He and his big dad were certainly cute. :)

@Taryn - I don't know whether they keep track, but one of the promoters did remember us from last year. :) And yes, I can't believe I got to 100. I really can't. And yes, I agree that there needs to be a contest/give-away, and I'm trying to think of something fun (or at least original). I am open to suggestions. :)

  5. You should certainly be glad you didn't win again.

First off, I don't even want to think of what would happen if you had to hold up Dewi in one hand and Jon Farleigh in the other for a picture even without tweeting about it at the same time.

And second, you don't want the boys to start getting hate mail from jealous pups.

    Be thankful for small blessings.

And thank you all for your donation to the March for the Animals. That was nice news to find in the midst of 600 emails waiting for me when I got back to a computer. :)

  6. I think its probably just as well you didn't win. Afterall, Dewi and JF with the "big head" would not be a pretty picture.

Must say that I think a photo of Elisabeth holding both Dewi and Jon Farleigh, while twittering, would be a fantastic sight :-D

  7. Isn't there something about a guy who has a soft spot for a cute little dog that just melts your heart? They're both quite cute, and there's always next year! ;)

  8. What a cutie!

Dewi and JF are just being gracious... they could totally take the title every year, but they want to share the wealth. :)

  9. Definitely a cute doggie! But...we're pretty sure you don't have to have a ribbon to be a winner, especially when you're cute corgis like Dewi and JF!

  12. @Pamela - Yes, thankful for small blessings! Besides, that kind of Corgi balancing act would be America's Funniest Videos material. (Hmmm, perhaps I missed out on $10,000.) And, you're welcome!

@Talking Dogs - See Funny Video comment above. :)

@Houndstooth - Welcome! Yes, the big guy and his little dog gave me the warm fuzzies (oops, I made a pun). :)

    @To all - Thanks! You're sweet. :)

  13. I am thinking I know that guy from somewhere...does he drive a big monster truck to make up for the little dog? ;-)
