A Corgi Limerick for Ye: Out-of-Retirement, Kissing Fools Edition

This post has been sponsored, in part, by the letters C (for Cardigan & Corgi) and W (for Welsh), and by our friends at Merrick Pet Care (for providing the nudge to bring the limericks out of retirement, and for the "traditional" Irish food service for Jon Farleigh and Dewi during the photo shoot).

{Ahem.}

Here have ye two corgis with tails.
From Ireland they're pretendin' to hail.
When truth-tellin' they ought
Their tomfoolery for naught
Since Saint Patrick was rightly from Wales*.

♣♣♣

The real mystery now being: Was he a Cardigan or a Pembroke?
I suppose that would depend entirely on whether he wore button-up sweaters. (wink) (Also, he was neither a Cardigan nor a Pembroke. So, no arguing!)

* St. Patrick was born in Roman-occupied Great Britain in the Fourth Century. Although it's unknown for sure which part, some historians cite that it was likely in the area that became Wales (vs. England or Scotland). (And I needed the limerick to rhyme, so Wales is my final answer!)

Also, I am aware that Jon Farleigh and Dewi did not choose to be tomfools in tacky green headbands. Therefore, the joke is, in fact, on me.

Good thing it was all an act, right?!

Well, the boys going leprechaun-y for the Merrick Kiss Me I'm Irish seasonal Spring recipe** dog food wasn't an act.

Oops! Probably shouldn't've left that can unattended! ☺

Note: I do not feed my cats dog food, OK? Tigger's a carnivore and there was a can o'beef in her face.
Second note: Merrick makes cat food too.
Third note: I let the dogs lick the cat food bowls after the cats are done eating. Every day.

** Kiss Me I'm Irish Stew is only one of four Merrick seasonal spring recipes. Look for it plus Mardi Gras Mash, Spring Training Supper and Easter Brunch at your local or online Merrick retailer.

Bonus for staying this long: these adorable pics from a previous St. Paddy's Day post!

Jon Farleigh was a pot o'gold under the rainbow. ♥
Dewi was a leprechaun. ♥
The cat (Bertie) was a photo-bomber. ♥

Hey, I have an idea! Why not browse through our whole collection of adorable corgi-laced St. Paddy's Day posts while you're at it!

(No, really. How can one go wrong looking at magical Irish corgis set to limericks and tacky prose on a day like today?)

Tacky Cardigan With Words on It: False Advertising on St. Patrick's Day

Don't you find it a wee bit perplexing (the false St. Patrick's Day advertising people put on their bodies, of all places)?

For instance:

All I'm saying is, if you're in America, think twice before you kiss an Irish dog who's had a beer on St. Patrick's Day. They're really only after one thing.

If you'd like me to consider your pet(s) photo for a tacky cardigan. just post it on the Facebook page!

BONUS! More photos!
Note: Be especially leery of redheaded dogs with hungry eyes.

They tend not to take no for an answer.

Liquid liver*.

A Guinness.

Mo' liver?

Ginger cats named Bobby Flay O'Fish (in contrast to American dogs) are decidedly kissable on St. Patrick's Day.

Especially when sporting bow ties.

And cheap (unintelligible) holiday-themed accessories from Target. Or not.

(Am I missing something with the socks, y'all? What is the point of socks that say "Irish {insert shamrock eyes and a red mustache} I Had A Beer" on them? And inside one's shoes, no less. I mean, that's just dumb, don't you think?)

On second thought, I think I might kiss him. ☺

* Liquid liver (or chicken, beef...)

Happy St. Patrick's Day!

Tacky Cardigan With Words on It: So Sorry, Dorothy Gale

You know the saying, "the grass is always greener on the other side of the fence," right? Well, have you ever heard the one that goes, "the blue is always bluer on the other side of the rainbow"?

Well, now you have.  Terribly sorry. (hehe)

If you'd like me to consider a photo of your pet(s) for a tacky cardigan, just post it to the Facebook page!

It Rhymes With 'Hump' Day: Chump

[Cue Jeopardy theme music.]

Contestant: "I'll take 'Words that rhyme with hump' for $600, Alex."

Alex Trebek: "Alright, for $600, here's the clue. In March, 2011, the author of the fledgling, slightly off-center, dog blog, The Chronicles of Cardigan, made these (infamous) remarks to her canine blog subjects, Jon Farleigh and Dewi (pictured)":

"Okay boys, I found these really cool St. Patrick's Day ties in the dollar bins at Target. Think you can sit still up here long enough for me to take some pictures for the blog? It'll just be this one time, okay, boys? Wanna treat??"

> BUZZ! <

Contestant: "Chum, I mean...what is CHUMP?!"

Alex Trebek: "That is correct."

Sadly, this particular contestant wound up with negative winnings after a particularly bad double-jeopardy wager, and had to sit out of the final jeopardy round.

Please note: In spite of their forlorn expressions, no dogs were deprived, coerced nor otherwise harmed in the making of this blog post (nor the original in 2011).

;-)

Tune in next Wednesday when I rhyme "hump" with...

A Corgi Limerick for Ye - Third (and final?) Edition

Behold ye these Corgis of Cardigan
Whose faces tell a tale of longsufferin'.
Though regularly charming
Next time, without warning
They'll poo in her shoe if she does this again.

♣♣♣♣♣♣♣

However, friends, not to worry. Like the tricky Irish elves themselves, even petulant corgis masquerading as Leprechauns and pots-of-gold-at-the-end-of-the-rainbow must deliver the goods when seen by human eyes. (And by goods, I mean all these other silly photos of Jon Farleigh and Dewi "suffering" through the St. Patrick's Day shoot!)

Enjoy! :-)

Is it me or is Dewi not completely believable as some sort of mythical wish-granting creature?
Seriously, he looks like he was just plucked out of the shire, possibly along with a hobbit or two! :)

Totally worth his weight in gold.

Ears, wings or end table? :)

The Eyes

The String of Drool ;-)

The First of Many Feline Photo Bombs
(I have FIVE cats, people; what did you expect?!)

All begging for a treat; yes, the kitten got one, too. I do not discriminate among species.

These do not look like the faces of corgis who poo in shoes, do they? ;-)

Do you see it, too??? hehe ;-)

And rounding it all out with some highly unusual feline insolence...

Yeah, well at least I'm not dressed up like a kindergartner in a parade!
(he says while sporting the bandana from his human sister's
American Girl (brand) stuffed West Highland Terrier)

Happy St. Patrick's Day, everybody!

Classic Cardigan: Hilarious Outtakes from Jon Farleigh and Dewi's 2011 St. Patrick's Day Photo Shoot

Oh, and why not throw in one from last week, too?

I'm not buying it anymore. The luck of the Irish is pure malarkey.
:)

And now for the classic:

Some of you might remember, from March 18, 2011...

Please refer to the limerick post for reference.

Dewi [using sarcasm]: "Nice tie."
JF: "Yur wearing one, too, Short Stack."

[crickets]

...later
Dewi [singing]: "The HILLS are alive...with the sound of MUsic..."
JF: "Why are you still here?"

later...
Dewi: "d-d-d-Doood, looks-lika LAYY - DAYYYY!!!!"
JF: "I think I can make it down with only a slipped knee."

later...
Dewi: "Summer breeeeze makes me feel fine...blowin' thru the jasmine in my MIND..."
JF: "Do you hate me?"
